Backend Engineer (Intern)
The Vacatio Solution backend is where bookings, inventory, rates, channel sync and hardware control all meet. As an intern you take one or two of those domains and start from operational APIs and bug fixes. The scope is deliberately narrow; the code is what real properties run on today.
About VACATIO
For those who want a fine life
How do you define a fine life? For Team VACATIO, it’s a life lived in earnest.
“We Make Life a Journey”
So we make life as exciting as travel, and travel as easy as life.
Vacatio Solution
An AI all-in-one PMS that takes a host from booking to settlement in one tool. It comes in two editions: unattended solo operation, and multi-staff operation.
Channel manager & AI dynamic pricing
Holds one inventory across many sales channels without overbooking, and recomputes the rate on top of it every day.
Hardware — locks, kiosks, AI response
Smart locks and room controllers, self check-in kiosks, and call-and-text AI all move on the same flow as the booking data.
FineStay
The app where travelers find boutique stays and book them outright, with no inquiry.
VACATIO Hotel Samseong
A hotel we run ourselves — the living lab where we prove what we build alongside real guests. It opens formally in October 2026.
Through these products we change countless moments every day. We now process over ₩50B in transaction volume a year, thousands of properties run on our service, we have raised ₩6B, and we have stayed operationally profitable for two consecutive years. Investors and the industry pay attention — but what we’re actually proud of is the people on this team.
Our dream is to beat Airbnb. We want to do it with people who carry big, romantic dreams.
What you'll do
- Own and build parts of the booking and room-inventory domain.
- Write operator-facing APIs and clean up the responses and error handling of existing ones.
- Reproduce reported data mismatches in channel sync and track down the cause.
- Strengthen tests and logging so failures surface faster.
- Pick up the domain and the team’s design standards through code review.
What we look for
- You have built a server application and taken it all the way to deployment.
- You have designed a database schema yourself.
- You have the habit of reproducing a problem and narrowing the cause until it gives.
- You enjoy taking review and reworking your own code.
- You are serious about turning the internship into a full-time role.
Tech stack
Node.js (Express, NestJS)MongoDB, MongooseAWS, DockerRedisKotlin, SpringBootGithub
People first, role second
The work and requirements above matter, of course. But before the role, we are people — and we are looking for teammates who can run in step with us. People first, role second.
Listing out specialties often makes us self-conscious — what we thought was our edge frequently turns out to be an edge in one particular environment only. So we look less at who ticks the boxes and more at who we can be with for the long run.
Honestly, this is not a team that is only comfortable. The direction changes often and there is a lot of work. We do not take that for granted, so we try hard to reward contribution as it comes. What carried us through the chaotic stretches, in the end, was trust in each other.
Tips for your application
- Rather than listing your history, tell us the experiences that show who you are.
- Tell us the experience and the story only you have.
- Attach a Github, blog URL or portfolio that shows that experience, if you have one.

A word from the team waiting for you
“Someone who wants to go all in on something — and hasn’t found what yet”
That’s who we want first. Right now we have more problems to solve than hard ones — we’re looking for people who can pour hours into solving them.
