The content you make daily is what builds a brand

A photograph of a moment on a trip

The thing we hear most about property content is not knowing what to post. Listen a little longer and it is usually not that they do not know, but that what they have feels not good enough.

Four reasons it never starts

  • Believing you need a remarkable story.
  • Believing you need beautiful video.
  • Believing it only counts if the views come.
  • Believing you have to be on every channel.

None of the four is wrong, exactly. All four stop you starting.

What to do first instead

  • Notice one thing you did for a guest today.
  • Record why you chose it, in a photo or a video.
  • Start with the one channel you are good at.
  • Post it consistently, even when it is not perfect.

The content made daily builds a brand faster than the content made well.

People read the reason a space was made that way more often than the finished space.

The stories that actually landed

For the partner we have worked with, across two properties, the stories that actually worked were not specially produced. They were mostly records of the process.

  • Why they chose a building that had been left empty.
  • Why they checked and revised to a degree the trades found irritating.
  • Why the build ran long, because every small item was chosen personally.
  • Why there is a charger in the bathhouse locker.
  • What they prepared for families arriving with young children.
  • Why they research cleaning methods themselves.
  • Why there is a camera in the kids room.

They share one thing. Each is about who it was for and why it was done that way, rather than about what was built.

Notice, record, tell, repeat

Content that begins as a plan does not last long. What lasts is a loop of four moves. Notice what you did for a guest today, record it in a photo or a short video, tell why it was done that way, and repeat.

The advantage of that loop is that you never run out. As long as you operate, new decisions happen every day, and every decision has a reason behind it.

Looking for a place to stay while travelling

Do not set aside time to shoot. Take one photograph of what you decided, where you decided it. The shots you cannot recreate later only exist in that moment.

In short

Do not wait for a remarkable story. Record the decision you made today. One channel to begin with, frequency before polish, and tell who it was for and why rather than what was built.

FAQ

Q. Which channel should a property start with?

The one you already know and can post to consistently. Start several at once and adapting to each format becomes the burden that stops you within a few weeks. Get the loop of noticing, recording and telling into your hands on one channel, then add a second.

Q. Is it pointless if the views are low?

The point of property content is less reach than giving someone deciding whether to book a basis for the decision. If they can see why the space was made this way and who it was made for, they can tell whether it suits them. What actually resonated was not polished production but a record of the reasoning.
